This is an exquisite Yunnan, black with golden tips.  A customer favorite and a bestseller for us.  Use a heaped teaspoon for each cup to obtain the maximum flavor.  From Yunnan region in China and from some of the oldest tea trees in the world. Very tippy, very rich with a lot of depth and character. Sometimes called Golden Halo or Golden Yunnan.  A taste of chocolate lingers on your palate. We strongly recommend this tea. Certified Organic.

Fire Earth Water Wood ... Leaf

The leaf of a tree that evolved in the woods that came into being in a topography formed by the fiery upheaval of earth as the Indian subcontinent united forcefully with Asia is a gift we cherish to this day. This unique earth, the waters of the three parallel rivers coursing through its forests and the unique micro climates at the eastern end of the world's greatest mountain range yielded an enormous bio-diversity that formed the setting. It is no wonder that this is the alpha, the ur of all tea. All this history is distilled from each leaf from these ancient trees as it steeps into a cup of elixir that is robust, lingering, flavor-filled, malty, redolent of chocolate, unmistakably, glowingly golden in its appearance and transporting in its fragrance.I run out of robust superlatives. I enjoy it as an infusion, with milk, with milk and sugar. I am never disappointed. The fact that it is organic just makes that much more appealing.

My favorite:)

I used to drink a pot or two of this every saturday morning when they had the tea shop in Tarrytown. I ordered the Ancient Forest Yunnan from the website thinking that it was the tea i used to drink but this has a richer, deeper flavor...

Tea Education

We've named this Dian Black from the Chinese Dian Hong which is a combination of Dian, an old version of the name Yunnan, and hong which is simply red and often used to describe black tea in China. It is grown in Yunnan province in China and easily one of our bestsellers. This area is prized for ancient trees and forests. The tea is rich, earthy and robust. This grade has an abundance of gold tips thus indicating a mark of high quality. The cup has a lingering chocolate note. For those who appreciate fine Assams, Dian Black is a recommendation. Good by itself or with a dash of milk.
