Classic long-leaf style leaf from Sri Lanka, New Vithanakande estate. A must try. One of our personal recommendations. Ceylon black teas are often considered the ideal 5 o'clock tea. Very good for those who enjoy a brisk, flavorful cup. In strength - not as strong as an Assam or Irish Breakfast. Good with milk or on its own.

We have been drinking New Vith every day since discovering it at the SilverTips tea room in Tarrytown 20(?) years ago. We were VERY sorry to see the shop close after enjoying it for so long, but remain glad that we still have a local mail-order source for our favorite Ceylon brew.
20 years ago sounds about right! Happy to still be of service to you. New Vithanakande remains a customer favorite along with Kenilworth, Ceylon.
This is an uncomplicated ceylon that is great for an afternoon tea. Due to it's long leaves, be sure to use an extra scoop of it when brewing - or go by weight to get the right amount, otherwise it will be too weak.
Quite right - a very useful tip or you will miss the full character of the tea.
Steeping Instructions
Use 1 heaped tsp. leaf per 8 oz. cup.
Pour boiling water over leaves.
Steep 4-5 mins.
Milk may be added.

A reliable, delicious tea that's great with milk!

Such a great tea! I really enjoy the rich flavor and excellent mouth feel.

When I am looking for a some real punch in my teacup, I brew Irish Breakfast. It goes well with milk and is great for dunking my favorite biscuits (cookies in the USA).

I grew up in a suburb of Cape Town, called Kenilworth. That is why I tried this blend of black tea. It has become a family favorite.

As I can't consume caffeine anymore, and I have been sad to not be able to drink my Silver Tips regular Earl Grey, I was so excited to find that they also have a decaffeinated Earl Grey! It is lovely and I am now able to enjoy my cup of tea again.

I currently enjoy six teas from Silver Tips. A gang of us in White Plains visited the tea room twice a week. Since there were four of us we ordered four different teas; each of us taking a half cup of each blend. My present choices come from those visits. I miss the shop and all the memories we made there.

High quality, great price

Silver Tips Earl Grey always makes my day! It starts my day, too!

The tumeric chai tea is my favorite hot or iced but the anti inflammatory properties of the Tumeric Chai is a delicious healthy treat I can enjoy every day. I have many flavors from Silver Tips but this flavor is the one I reorder the most.

I am so happy to see that my favorite jasmine tea is back. Just the right balance of smoothness and tastiness has enabled it to be well-received by all to whom I have served it, whether casual or serious tea drinkers.
I only wish there were an organic option. Regardless, I love this tea!

An absolutely wonderful daily drinker. No astringency, and the subtle hint of jasmine is wonderful!

Using it daily

The most relaxing time of the day with my wife is our afternoon tea. We take our time as while the tea cools it improves in both flavor, mouth feel, and of course the buzz. This is my only deliberate flirt with caffeine and everything else that is packed into this tea. We believe this time together, music, tea, and laughing improves all the rest of our life.

I discovered this tea some years ago and have been using it ever since.

great non-caffeinated treat when I want something warm and sweetened with honey and almond milk
