Very good bergamotte taste. Even as a decaf one of the better Earl Greys.
Makaibari Autumnal
A mellow tea from the later part of the season from an estate known for its commitment to sustainable agriculture. A very easy tea to enjoy! Stronger than 1st or 2nd flush teas. Can tolerate some milk.
For those familiar with Makaibari Apoorva in India, this is the tea to choose.
June, 2023. Denver, Colorado.
First thing that struck me about this batch of Makaibari Autumnal black tea from 2022 was the aroma of the tea in the lovely packaging that it arrived in. I wasn't expecting anything spectacular but this batch was a pleasant surprise as there was a promising fragrance from the package! So far ... so good!
The fragrance in the cup once I brewed the first cup was, again, promising. When I sipped it, I was very pleasantly surprised with the flavour. It definitely had the Darjeeling magic that I have loved since I was a student in Darjeeling many years ago.
I then added a touch of milk and sugar - my preferred way of enjoying my Darjeeling tea - and was able to close my eyes and thoroughly enjoy the experience!!
I am contemplating purchasing some more of this batch of tea if it is still in stock!
I've tried Makaibari Autumnal from Slvertips Tea several times before but I think this is the best I've ever had!
Very pleasantly surprised and satisfied customer!!!
Thank you!!
Very glad and relieved, particularly as the last order did not meet your expectations. Very important that we keep our old-school Darjeeling students happy! Appreciate your comments and enjoy the tea.
This has been my go to tea for such a long time. I know I will always get an uplift in the afternoon or a boost to get up and go first thing in the morning. It is forgiving in steep times, it can stand multiple infusions and it tolerates milk and sugar.
It gives me a generous cup of tea reminiscent of that which my own mother offered me. You will never go wrong with an autumnal and if it is from Makaibari you are quite ensured and will obtain fulsome satisfaction in a cup.
This tea has a lot of fans. The Autumnal steeps up a darker, more substantial cup than the 1st or 2nd flush and tolerates a bit of milk. But it still retains that special Darjeeling floral note. Glad it's become your go-to tea!
Steeping Instructions
Use 1 generous tsp. leaf per 8 oz. cup.
Pour boiling water over leaves.
Steep 3.5-4 mins.

from 276 reviewsDelicious, smooth cup. Good any time of day.
Very good bergamotte taste. Even as a decaf one of the better Earl Greys.
Excellent, smooth, tea
My husband and I found this tea ZingyZang about 15 years ago and have been drinking it since. We have tried many teas and consider ourselves tea snobs. We thoroughly enjoy this tea.
Have been drinking this for years every day. A wonderful and highly satisfying tea.
Light, floral, refreshing. I drink it anytime of day.
Best tea to get your day up and rolling. Strong, caffeinated and powerful, it is a kick in the pants. A daily favorite.
I like a strong tea with a rich flavor and this tea hits the mark every time! It is my go to morning cup and most often what I drink later in the day. There is nothing quite like that first sip of the day!
I have been a serious iced tea drinker all of my adult life, and besides water, it’s all I drink. Thus Mango tea is one of my top favorites I can’t be without.
Wonderful tea. I’ve been drinking it for years. Perfect in the morning or afternoon. I put a little hint of honey in my perfect brew.
Normally I'm an Assam girl, but when this year's Makaibari first flush tea came out, I was intrigued, and thought I'd give it a try. I am officially a fan! It's crisp, clean and flavorful. The taste is rich and complex enough for my morning cup. Definitely best without milk, so all the flavors can find full expression.
Vayu blend is one of my favorites of Silver Tips Ayurvedic herbal teas. It's fresh and aromatic with a smooth, silky finish. And who can resist those tiny rose buds?
I'm always nervous when I sip the first cup of a new batch tea, because you never know if it will live up to previous years' harvests.
Makaibari 2nd Flush is possibly the best I have tasted from this garden.
Full disclosure, I drink my tea with milk and sugar so I stay away from 1st Flush - regardless of which Tea Estate it is from.
I always try a new 2nd Flush as my first morning tea and my first few sips are before I add milk or sugar. Then I add only as much milk and sugar as I think the tea will tolerate.
My first cup, following the brewing directions on the package, came out a little strong so I brewed another cup with 1 heaped regular teaspoon [not a teaspoon measure] - for three minutes. Perfect ... for me at least.
I have to be careful with the milk and sugar or that glorious Darjeeling flavour is drowned. Most of my friends who have worked in and managed Darjeeling tea estates shake their heads when I tell them I add milk and sugar, but this batch handles it very well.
If you want to know the 'taste of Darjeeling', this is a very good place to start.
I'm ordering more of it as soon as I finish this review.
This review wouldn't be complete if I didn't mention the stellar customer service that I have always had from SilverTips Tea. You won't find a more responsive, caring and knowledgeable retailer! Thank you so much.
I find the distinct flavor of Makhabari Second Flush to be a favorite all day; First Flush, Earl Grey, and classic Chai are reserved for morning - refreshing and strong. The scent of Silver Tips tea lingers in a full pot, ready for seconds. Thank you!
I've been drinking Samovar tea as my favored morning tea for many years. It's a rich full body tea that I truly enjoy.
