Hard to believe Silver Tips is 14 years old. Seemed just the other day that we received our Certificate of Occupancy. On our opening day in November 1999, my sister and I were Food Prep and yes, we made all the orders! We welcomed 96 people on opening day and we served Soup, Salad and a record number of Afternoon Teas. Our good friend, Mike Olsen was co-opted for the day and helped in the front and took charge of Tea. We barely kept up and celebrated when the day was over. We ran on pure adrenalin. We were told by neighboring merchants that we would never make it. And here we are, 14 years later, still standing with deep roots in the community, strong relationships with our customers and we think, a good reputation for great tea, friendly service and honest principles.
Our gratitude to our customers is boundless. Without you we would not have a Tea Room and we remind ourselves of this everyday. And my personal thanks to our staff who work hard, bring joy to a lot of people and aim to please. Most of the time we hit the right note but occasionally, it's a huge miss. We stop, analyze, correct ourselves and move on. We are also aware of how fortunate we are when compared to others in our community who need help so this Saturday, November 16th, we are donating 10% of all proceeds to the Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow Food Pantry. Come and have lunch with us, shop for the holidays and donate whatever you can in our donation jar. All of it will help others in our community. We have Menu Specials, Raffles, Prizes as well as 1-day Specials including Gift Cards, Teapots, Bone China Tea Mugs, Tea Samplers, Canisters and many other items on Sale.
