Over one thousand people live in the seven villages of Makaibari. Over 600 work on the plantation. Approximately 3 - 4 members of each family find employment at Makaibari. The remainder work in neighbouring towns and villages and many are retired. Over the years, some of our faithful employees pass on to the next world. For each, a bench is erected, a place of repose, surrounded by the beauty of the garden. I passed several in my wanderings - here's one that remained with me.
