After a wonderful flight on Jet Airways from New York via Brussels, I arrived at Delhi around 11 pm and checked into Vasant Continental Hotel, midway between the international and domestic airports. At that time of the night, the hotel upgraded me to a suite....which of course I couldn't put to use....and promised to wake me in the morning for my 10 am flight the next morning to Makaibari. I noticed that everywhere there were fresh cut flowers. This particular hotel had an old-world quality to it with terra cotta mosaic, doormen in gorgeous uniforms and architecture that resembled the Moghul forts and mosques found in Delhi, Jaipur and Udaipur. In the land of tea, guess what was served at the hotel! More later.
