White Tea

White teas have come into their own in the past several years.  Prized for their antioxidants and many health benefits, these teas are now becoming more and more popular.  In China they are known for their cooling properties and for stimulating the intestinal tract.  

White teas are mild in the cup, containing a preponderance of buds and typically manufactured early in the year.  Pai Mu Tan (Bai Mu Dan) or White Peony is the grade consumed on a regular basis.  Silver Tips and Silver Needles are the top grade of white teas.  It is also the tea after which our website is named.

As I can't consume caffeine anymore, and I have been sad to not be able to drink my Silver Tips regular Earl Grey, I was so excited to find that they also have a decaffeinated Earl Grey! It is lovely and I am now able to enjoy my cup of tea again.

Memories of the tea room in Tarrytown

I currently enjoy six teas from Silver Tips. A gang of us in White Plains visited the tea room twice a week. Since there were four of us we ordered four different teas; each of us taking a half cup of each blend. My present choices come from those visits. I miss the shop and all the memories we made there.
