Tea Education
CTC stands for Crush, Tear and Curl and the manufacture is handled mostly via machines. This contrasts with "orthodox" manufacture which is largely via hand with only the final few steps requiring machines. CTC manufacture results in small granules of tea and they are sorted into grades and sizes such as BP (Broken Pekoe), BOP (Broken Orange Pekoe), PF (Pekoe Fannings). The smaller the granule, the stronger the tea and the more residual sediment that remains. We typically offer a CTC.BOP grade which still offers the strength of a typical Assam CTC without it producing too much dust or residue in the cup.
